Franklin Hopkins,
Sr. is a volunteer in the S.H.A.R.E. Program and
leads the Ministry at Christ Fellowship Church in Miami,
Florida. He carries out the mission of the S.H.A.R.E
Program by reaching out into the community with a 110%
effort. He has almost 50 years of experience in
the grocery retail and inventory service business and
has used his experience, knowledge, and gifts to expand
on what it means to give to others. Frank’s
desire to make a positive difference in the world, one
life at a time, has touched thousands of people-many
he doesn’t even know. He tirelessly works
to better the lives of others around him, especially
those in need. One only has to mention a need,
and Frank is there to help. Those who know him
at all describe him as the hardest working, most generous
and energetic man the world has ever known.
Frank Hopkins has severed in the S.H.A.R.E. program
through Christ Fellowship Church, pastored by Dr. Rick
Blackwoood, for the past nine years. During this
time, he has given his all to serving in this program
and getting others in the church involved in servicing
the ministry to the community. Most importantly,
he has reached out into the Miami-Dade community and
has used his hands and feet to demonstrate the love of
Jesus.
This past Thanksgiving, Frank organized a Thanksgiving Basket
Drive through Christ Fellowship. Associate Pastor Eric
Geiger wholeheartedly supported this endeavor, and as a result
the S.H.A.R.E. Ministry under Frank’s leadership, distributed
5066 Thanksgiving Baskets on November 18, 2006. This
food distribution fed over 35,000 people. He organized
a humanitarian effort that was far-reaching and created the
involvement of over 700 volunteers. Frank Hopkins spent
months working toward one day that world bless thousands
upon thousands for a lifetime.
How was he able to accomplish such an awe-inspiring feat? Thorough
volunteers! Frank’s go-getter, positive attitude
is contagious. His theme for the Thanksgiving S.H.A.R.E.
drive was “Let’s Make It a Perfect Day at Christ
Fellowship!” His vision was shared with hundreds
of volunteers who also desired to make a difference in the
Thanksgiving season.
As a volunteer himself in the S.H.A.R.E. program, Frank’s
leadership skills have influenced hundreds of others
to get involved it this worthy program, not just at the
holiday’s but through the year. Every Day,
Frank gets up at 04:00 am to pick up left over sweets
and breads from area grocery stores to give away on S.H.A.R.E.
distribution days. This is not expected, but it
is something he does to help give those in need a little
extra-luxury they might not be able to afford themselves. He
also buys hundreds of sodas and water out of his own
pocket to serve along with coffee and sweets on S.H.A.R.E.
Saturdays to help provide fellowship with all who come
to serve or pick up a S.H.A.R.E. package.
Something most people don’t know about Frank is
that often he does all the work, not only on a volunteer
basis, but provides his own transposition and gas. He
purchased a van to be used specifically for S.H.A.R.E.
that he allows others to use while volunteering in S.H.A.R.E. He
is not compensated whatsoever for any of this time and
effort. As one watches him work and notices the
significant number of hours he labors for others, it
certainly appears he works as if he were a paid employee. Frank
knows, however, that God sees all of his labor and is
taking note of his eternal investment. Frank quickly
tells anyone that will listen how blessed he has been
to be able to serve in the S.H.A.R.E. Ministry at Christ
Fellowship.
Many people also don’t know that Frank’s
service to others has cost him something – time,
money, effort, and sacrifice. Through the years,
Frank has suffered with terrible leg pain and has undergone
many surgeries. However, regardless of pain or
health, Frank has fulfilled his commitments with S.H.A.R.E.
Program
Frank
Hopkins certainly deserves to know that he has made a
difference in this community and ultimately, has made
a difference in the world. He should be affirmed
in some small way that demonstrates how grateful we are
to him for giving so much of him away without expecting
anything in return. A man like Frank Hopkins truly
is rare he’s definitely one-in-a-million!
Recently, Frank was nominated for the
HUMANITARIAN OF THE YEAR FOR THE STATE OF FLORIDA. This
is a very high honor, and many would love to see Frank
Hopkins receive this award. A small reward in comparison
to all he has sacrificed and given to make our world
a better place. We encourage you to get involved
and support his nomination for this prestigious aware
by voting for him at admin@humanitarianhall.com or www.humanitarianhall.com. Please
cast your vote as soon as possible. Let the good
word spread, and tell other to give Frank Hopkins a “perfect
day” of his own!
